Help Your Child

  • Make school attendance a priority. Unless child is ill.
  • Make sure your child has all the supplies for school that are needed.
  • Praise your child when he or she accomplishes a goal. Then a special place at home to display project or artwork.
  • Be aware of when your child is learning & ask school work regularly.
  • Create a quiet, well lit place to do homework, make sure home work is completed.
  • Encourage your child to participate is extracurricular. Such as sports, art or music.
  • Be involved in your child education by volunteering and participating is class room & school activities.
  • Set a good example by letting your child see your read. Read to your child & let them read to you.
  • Engage your child is conversation about his or her day & event at school.
  • Be in communication with your child’s teacher about any family situation that may influence your child’s performance at school. Attend parents- teacher meeting and bring up any concerns or questions you may have.
  • Help your child to maintain a positive attitude about school and home work.
  • Establish a consistent daily routine Allow enough to get everything done including homework and sleep. set limitations how much time your child spends in front of the TV, computer or any gaming devices. Make sure your child views only appropriate material.
  • Encourage your child to be physically active for at least 1 hour each day .
  • Provide balanced meals every day including a healthy breakfast.
  • Set a consistent bed time schedule and make sure your child receives at least 8-10 hours of sleep, depending on age
  • Encourage your child to take on responsibilities at home to teach self-reliance and decision making skills.
